Hi

I’ve just whipped up a quick FieldFrame fieldtype to provide YUI RTE custom fields. For anyone trying to integrate the YUI RTE in EE, be sure to check it out:

http://code.google.com/p/lm-yui-rte-fieldtype-field/

At present it doesn’t integrate image upload / browsing but will hopefully in the future, as and when I get a chance to take a look at it.

Enjoy!

Trying it out now and looking forward to the image upload / browsing

Hiya,

Tried this out earlier on a localhost install (not sure if that has anything to do with what I’m about to say or not though) and it wouldn’t save anything placed into the field. Upon saving the entry and going back to edit it the field would be empty every time.

I will have to check this out though on a new install as I do have a few other extensions installed on that localhost site so it may just have been one of those interfering with it or something. I will post back here if and when I found out what was causing it.

Looks nice though.

Best wishes,

Mark

Hi Mark,

You’re right, it doesn’t seem to be saving. I shall investigate.

Ok.

Fixed now. I had omitted the handleSubmit option. I’ve also fixed the PHP warning about $r being undefined. I threw this together in minutes (props to Brandon Kelly’s FieldFrame!) - perhaps a little to hastily!

Google code updated, see link above.

Hmm now it seems that hitting the Submit button is making the system perform a Preview instead so the entry is not able to be saved :-(

Hmmm. Bizare, not at all sure why that would be happening. I’ve got it running on a fresh 1.6.7 build and it’s saving fine.

Actually, scrap that. It is doing the preview thing.

Right, my advice: DO NOT USE THIS EXTENSION!

It was something I quickly whipped up, decided against using and thought better the share than shelve. However, it clearly doesn’t work, and I don’t have the time to maintain it.

Ok. I’ve bitten the bullet and delved into the YUI documentation, it was grating on me, couldn’t let it go! I’ve fixed the saving / preview bug / quick save bug and everything seems to be working as expected. I’ve updated the SVN repo and uploaded a new version as a ZIP to download.

3rd time lucky?

Yep does seem to be working this time 😊

Just a couple of things though, first being is this supposed to work with FieldFrame as I don’t seem to be able to get it working in a Matrix type field or is it not supposed to work in there yet or perhaps only with the paid version of FieldFrame maybe?

The other thing would be is it possible to say what buttons should appear and which shouldn’t and also any way of making the field any bigger?

Thanks for all of this.

Best wishes,

Mark

These may appear in later versions, but at this moment in time I’ve got no intention of taking this extension further. The extension is very simple and anyone with some basic programming skills should be able to extend it to do what ever they like. I appreciate this isn’t great for non-programmers but it ain’t a bad deal at £0.00 😉

No problem at all, just thought I might have been doing something silly and missing out on some features. Totally understood though and I’m sure this extension will be of a great use to a lot of people so thanks for that.

Best wishes,

Mark
