Responsive images in RTE

Has anyone created a button for the RTE to handle responsive (Bootstrap) images?
I’ve read through the documentation about creating buttons for the RTE but at the moment the concept is still eluding me.
Alternately & in addition, where are the files for the RTE system buttons stored (in EE 3.0.5) that I could try picking a file apart to learn.

The files for the system RTE buttons are stored in system/ee/legacy/rte_tools. I’d recommend looking at the image folder to get you started.
