Hello world.

Is Katch.me the only and hard way to add Periscope livestream to your EEsite? I’ve been searching something but seems that there is not yet any type of addon for EE to get things going. I’ve seen WP has it, so this might be a chance for some guru to make one for EE also.

Using Katch is kinda good but you need to be logged in to EE and setup the page for iframe every time you go live.

So, Does anyone ever done EE using Periscope-kind-of-a-thingy yet? I’d be glad to hear more how did you do it..

Cheers

No- didn’t ring any bells with me, so I poked around a bit to see if they had an API, just to get a feel for what you can do. I couldn’t find anything- closest I came was embedding the on air button.

Is this what you’re doing with Katch?

That does seem horribly clunky.

This looks like you can embed the live url in an iframe - but I don’t know if those are static for your account?

But I’d likely wait for an api to work on an EE add-on. If you even need one- not sure why they don’t offer an easy way to embed, but hopefully they will. That seems pretty desirable IMO.

That help at all? It was a very long way of saying ‘no’ 😉

We dabbled with Periscope - I’d rather download from Katch, upload to YouTube, then embed in EE.

Bigger audience on YouTube (consider it the #2 search engine).

Heh, we just did a test and oh boy, periscope stick anyone? LOL. Anyways, at this point we go with the button. Also a bit unfocused (might be my phone heheh) so this is yet another one to first learn and then wow. Livestream.com is the next level if and when we get there 😊

Fun tho, and now few who watched it, knows that I curse a lot and I have shaking hands (coffee anyone, coffee?) ROFL.

HA- and this is why I would never use it. I had to spend hours editing vid tutorials just to not sound like a total idiot. Every other word out of my mouth is ‘um’.

But it might be fun to watch other people.

It will be fun and we have lot of ideas. I’ve been waiting this type of thing to happen like ages. Now I have one team member that is as lunatic as I am, so all lights are green to go 😊 But…its the “dark ages” here for the next 3-4 monts still so not much of outdoor streaming. Oh man, fun day even that I have hand full of “whoot’s” still with the site to handle…
