XAMPP installation - third party add on - initialization error

How Do I?

I’ve installed the latest version of XAMPP on a Windows 7 PC and on it have installed EE v3.1.2. I’ve also attempted to install the latest version of Solspace’s “User” add on, but when I attempt to initialize the program using EE’s add ons page, I get this error:

Error: Unable to load the requested language file: language/english/c:xampphtdocssystemuseraddonsuser_lang.php

So far, everything else about my XAMPP EE installation seems to work. I also have the same versions of EE and User installed under an internet domain and there they seem to work as expected. So my problem seems to be a XAMPP specific issue. What would cause this to be inserted in the path?

“c:xampphtdocssystemuseraddons”

Looks like a path variable going wrong somewhere, somehow, the slashes being removed. Have you touched base with Solspace yet?

Ingmar, I haven’t touched bases with Solspace yet because a web-based installation of the same versions of EE and “User” is working fine. So, I thought it must be an XAMPP settings issue that someone here might recognize and offer me some advice. I’m almost completely new to XAMPP but I’ve used ExpressionEngine for over decade. I’ve always done my website development online and I want to quit that bad habit 😊 and start developing locally.
