Use search addon in ee3

I’ve got the sample search code in one of my pages (found here: https://docs.expressionengine.com/latest/add-ons/search/simple.html). But when I search I get this: You are not permitted to use the search engine.

Thing is I’m logged in as a super admin.

Next issue is I can’t find the search addon in the addon list in EE3, was that removed? Is search just a default now? I found a preference setting in other member groups that let me turn on search, but can’t get it to work for my super admin.
