Converts tags into the ellipsis character

For some reason, my Expression Engine install is converting img and span tag endings in the HTML entity ‘ellipsis’ character. (& #8230;). What happens is the span and img tags don’t close and the markup gets messed up. Here is an example:

collaboration, and more.
It is inserting a span tag, and then the tag is not closed and it messes up the whole page.
