Ability to limit categories to one per entry, require categories, use different field title

I frequently need to limit categories to one per entry. The EE 3 UI for relationships limited to a single relationship would be perfect.
I also have a need to require categories.
And I would love to be able to set the title of the category field to something different the way we can with the Title field.

Yes that category facility would be very useful, perhaps allow us to specify the type of list it provides in the CP, ie checkboxes for multiple selection or a select/radio field for single selection?
