Fresh Install Using Upgrade Purchase

How Do I?

I am in the process of switching hosting providers. I was wondering if I could do a fresh new install using my upgrade purchase? My live site is using 2.10.1 and I am using MSM with several sites. Currently my EE install has plenty of wasted entries, custom fields, etc. I was thinking about doing a fresh install instead of exporting my DB from old hosting provider to the new one and then upgrading. Is this possible? Some of the settings and data from my live site will be needed. What strategy would you recommend for getting rid of the huge amount of useless custom fields, channel data, etc?
Thanks

You can do a fresh install of 3.x with your upgrade license, provided either the fresh install is not “live” or the previous site is no longer “live”. More-or-less, you get one live site per license (plus additional MSM sites of course).

With respect to your second question, I can see two options. One is to do the upgrade from 2.10.1 to 3.2.1 and then delete the custom fields and channel entries you no longer want. The second option is to do a fresh install and manually configure the new site to replicate the old, and to manually import your channel entries.

Thanks for the reply. I decided to just upgrade, with only one hosting provider having a live site.
