Edit Entry After Publishing

Feature Requests

In EE2, after you published an entry, you were presented with a link to go back and “Edit This Entry.”

It would be awesome if EE3 had a similar feature within the confirmation alert notice on the Entry Manager search screen.

Entry Updated The entry ZZZ has been updated. Edit This Entry

OR – add a “Publish and Continue Editing” button to the Edit Entry page. Or both!

They would save a lot of time searching for the same entry each time you want to re-edit.

In v3, you’re taken to the edit page with the edited entry highlighted, which also serves as a link to edit, so it seems to serve this purpose in a more modern way, no? So “Publish and Continue Editing” I understand, but can you describe for me in more detail how an interstitial would be an improved user experience? Thanks!

Can you clarify on “the edited entry is highlighted”? I am on 3.2.1 and the only highlighted portion is the notification at the top after editing that says:

Entry Updated The entry [entry name] has been updated.

It’s of little value as you can’t even click back into the entry from it.

Also, we used to have a nice option of going back to “Filtered Entries” with that interstitial, when we were done editing. Now we have to apply filters every time as they are reset after you edit/publish an entry.

Going through some old thread subscriptions and see that I never closed the loop on this one, sorry!

The entry row for the new entry is highlighted on the edit page, which of course also links to the entry. We’ve since added “Save” and “Save and Close” to the publish page, which solves the original request.

We’ve determined that interstitials are dated, and not the best user experience. I’ve added an internal issue however for the filters to be retained after publishing a new entry from the edit page; I agree those should be retained.

I think that’s a great way to handle it. But on my end, after you hit “Save”, the entry is not highlighted…

I do get a nice green box telling me the entry has been updated, but it’s not linked…

Are you looking in the edit table rows itself rather than the notification?

Yeah… the row doesn’t get highlighted on my end… I’ve tried this on several 3.x installs.

Ah I see now. Updated an entry vs creating a new entry (which is when highlighting occurs).

Aha! Yeah, it does work when I create a new entry.
