Hello,

We have an Expression Engine install with the multisite module (5 sites) and each site has 5 languages that we created with XX_name structure (replacing the XX by the language iso code).

We have recently upgraded from MySQL 5.5 to Mariadb 10 that uses Aria engine for MySIAM tables.

Aria, limit’s the number of columns to 1000 (in the same was innodb does), however we have :

35 fields per website in 5 languages, over 5 websites.

Expression Engine creates two columns per field.

Because of this we have 35 * 5 * 5 *2 = 1750 columns

More and more hosts are moving from MySQL to Maridb (Redhat now comes with Mariadb instead of MySQL), cPanel is now defaulting to Mariadb and soon will stop support for MySQL.

What do you suggest appart from moving to another CMS with a better database structure ?

Thanks

Ok, so issue moved to feature requests and then no answers from Ellislab.

We resolved this issue by provisionnaly moving the website to an older server and are in the progress of moving to a CMS with a better database structure.

Sad :(
