How Do I?

I’ve set up dozens of sites in EE 1.x - 2.x so it disturbs me that in EE 3.x I can’t figure out how to enable member photos! I’ve spent a good part of 2 hours hunting and pecking through the CP and an hour in the documentation trying to figure it out. I understand that the new file upload functionality has been extended to include member photos but there is not an obvious way to associate an upload location with a member’s photos. Every time I try to upload a photo I get an error that “member photos are not enabled”. I’d really appreciate some help.

BTW, Avatars works and I can easily see how to enable and disable them in the CP…

Thank you.

EE3 did away with member photos, seeing as how they were redundant with avatars. Use those instead.

Ingmar, Thanks for your answer. I went back to the release notes for EE3 and did a search for “member photos” and found this as the only mention:

Unified Upload Directories: Everything that used to be a special folder (Member photos, avatars, etc..) is now available in the File Manager and can use the usual file manipulations and other upload preferences.

Anyone else agree this could be improved? How is one supposed to understand that member photos have been removed from this text? This doesn’t say that member photos have been removed and it implies that whatever the fate of member photos then avatars suffered the same fate, but that’s not the case.

If EE were reading this, and I note they’re not, I’d suggest there were A LOT more clarification on this issue.

Thanks again Ingmar.
