The CP allows us to customize the publishing form for every channel, arranging the fields in a custom order, using various tabs etc. It’s all very neat (although it would be nice to have the option of multiple fields per row), but a little tedious to re-do for various user groups times a number of channels.
An option to clone an existing layout (the way we have with templates, e.g.) would be a vast improvement.

I think that checking the checkbox next to a layout should give you the ability to duplicate. Also when editing a layout, if you switch the name you should be able to save as new…
