make a category a selectbox

I just get checkboxes can I change this to a selectbox? Also can I change the ‘categorise this entry’ text?

The UI for categories is not customizable. This was chosen because the multi-select form control is difficult for most people to use, error-prone, and inconsistent between OSes. W3Schools has a bit to say on this topic.
“Categorize this entry.” is part of the English language pack, and could be customized for your installation using the translation utility.
