how to increase username limit

Can anyone recommend the file I need to hack in order to increase the username limit? I believe it is 25 characters and I need it increased.

It’s actually 50 characters. I can’t recommend a hack due to database, updating issues, etc…

oh thanks 50 is plenty. I will have to ask the user more details to their issue. May just be a field limit that is the issue.
