What happens a User is deleted?

One of my writers left the company. When I deleted him from the site member list, it seems like his posts went away as well.
Is that possible? And is that what is supposed to happen?

The way I manage this when a member leaves is change their account password and email address and this keeps all their comments intact without giving them access to the site any longer.
What version are you using? In EE2 at least ExpressionEngine presents you with the option to either delete all of their entries, or reassign them all to a different member.
I’m running 3.3.4 on that site. When I deleted the user I’m sure I did’t get a message of any sort with options.
I think my new process will be to simply change their status to member or something without CP access. This is the first user I’ve needed to remove, so live & learn I guess… At least I have database backups to get data from if I need it.
