Prevent members from managing categories

In form layouts it would be nice to have the ability to allow a member group to assign categories to a post, but simultaneously prevent them from managing the categories.
Right now it seems that if a group is allowed to view and assign categories, there’s no way to prevent them from managing the categories.
Basically, I don’t want members to be able to shuffle categories around, add descriptions to them, rename them, etc.

Go to Channel Manager -> Categories and edit your category group and uncheck Edit Categories/Delete Categories for the group that you want to prevent from managing categories.

I should have known. It did seem like an odd feature to be missing.
