CP in EE 1.7.3 displaying without CSS - how to fix?

I’m upgrading an old 1.7.3 build for a client and discovered today that he CP is displaying without any CSS styling.
I know I fixed this for another client a few years back, but can’t remember what I did? Does anybody know how to fix this, please?

you probably need to adjust the site url and “Theme Folder Path” and URL.
Admin › System Preferences › General Configuration
of course, with that, you may have to find other paths to correct as well, but that should get your CMS looking reasonable.

What errors are your browser Dev Tools/Firebug etc. showing? What path is it looking for the CSS file at? Lots of useful info to be found there.
