Has anyone successfully managed to publish to Apple News from EE via the Apple News API as opposed to RSS? If so can you share how you accomplished it?

Interestingly enough there are Apple News publishing plug-in’s for other CMS’s. I would love to see EllisLab listed here asap: Are there third-party CMS plug-ins available to help me create articles in the Apple News Format and deliver them to News Publisher

Hey Ric, it’s something we’ve looked at, but haven’t had a lot of demand for. What’s been your experience with publishing with RSS? What features do you see critical for your clients?

Hi Derek,

RSS publishing works nicely. For most, it is the best way to go for a simple point to there and forget it set-up. But the simplicity comes at a cost as you cannot get very elaborate or creative with it. Apple News Format on the other hand offers a great deal more customization, layouts, richer media, and support for iAD. With the Apple News app usage growing it would be nice to offer IMO. From what I have read it’s all JSON with a custom REST mechanism used to send it off for publishing. It was just updated earlier this month and will continue to see updates.
