Hi EE Community,

One of our ExpressionEngine websites is having a lot of trouble with browser back and forward buttons/functionality (especially in Chrome).

This is our website https://www.reeffree.com.au/

Once you have navigated over a few pages, press the back button. Most of the time the result is only the logo on the left and the navigation on the right but nothing below it.

We have attempted the following: - Increasing the php.ini memory_limit to 512MB - Removed external Facebook and Google frames - Change the PHP version - Updated our version of EE (From 2.5 to 2.11.2) - Updated all our plugins and extensions

This issue has been happening for year and the weirdest part is that we have another 4 websites that are essentially the exact same that don’t display any similar issues. These issues have all the same features down to the web hosting.

If someone offers a solution we can offer a financial reward and potential a lot more future work.

Please contact me if you have any ideas

I’m not seeing the exact behavior you describe, but it sounds an awful lot like content being loaded in by Ajax and manipulating browser history improperly. See if this article doesn’t help describe some of the actions taken on your site, and how to keep browser history in sync with Ajax calls.
