Clone an existing entry/’Save as new entry’ etc. Whatever your preference to method and terminology. This is a functionality that exists in many basic CMS’s. Third party addons like MX Cloner don’t support EE3 and this should really be a 1st party function anyway.

Should definitely be included out of the box. Try this one though, it’s EE3 compatible: https://github.com/ThorntonStuart/SimpleCloner

This would indeed be a great feature. It would likely require some work on the part of third-party devs to make it truly useful, but I’d imagine the changes needed would be very minor.

Yes, agreed. There must be good technical reasons why it hasn’t been included yet but it is a glaring omission. There are numerous instances where it would be very timesaving to simply duplicate an existing entry, then open and edit it.

I’m currently testing a cloner plugin myself. The ones mentioned are great but I had a case that involved Publisher, Relationship fields, and Relationship fields within Grid fields (that was a challenge). Those use case pushed me to write one that handled those things. I’m still testing and need to add Fluid Field support and some other third-party field support (i.e. Assets) but it’s working with the above mentioned and fields that store their data in the channel_data table. If you’d like a copy to help me test just PM me.
