Where do I find my headers to add a Facebook tracking pixel?

I started a new job and we’re all content managers, but no one has experience with the Expression Engine back end so we’re trying to piece everything together as it arises (scary). Currently, I’m trying to add the new Facebook tracking pixel, but I can’t find the “header” where everyone tells me to add it. Help?
Since EE lets you do things a multitude of different ways, there is no one place to find it. The likely places would be within the Templates, the Snippets or the Global Variables. Beyond that, without seeing the backend, or knowing how the site was constructed, it’s hard to say. Where have you looked?
Thanks for the direction on where to look! It looks like it’s under embeds, but it looks like there’s 10 different headers. How do I know which is being used and where?
Embeds meaning a folder under ‘Templates Manager’ named that, correct? BTW which version of EE you using?
10 headers? I’d need to see, but that doesn’t sound like the original developer really understood how ExpressionEngine works. To see what header embeds are used where, you’ll need to check the template code for what’s referenced. You’ll be looking for something like:
{embed="embeds/(header template name here)"} near the top of the template.
For example to find the home page, it should be the index template of the default group. Within Templates Manager, look for the ‘Group’ name that has an asterix (*) in front of the name. Often named *site or *default.
In most cases there should be only 1 header, especially for public facing pages, but in your case you may need to repeat the process through all the templates.
In time, you may want to hire someone who knows EE well to review your setup and maybe even create some documentation for you. Don’t let a poor implementation by a dev discourage you/your organization. EE is an amazing and powerful tool with superior security to other popular CMS’s out there (cough WordPress).
Correct on the embeds location. It looks like some of these are old or tests and the others I’m guessing were perhaps used on different parts of our site for tracking. They all appear the same, so I can only assume there’s something embedded that makes them different.
Thank you again for your help! I find EE mostly easy to use, I’m just in new waters here. I’ll figure it out though (with help from people like you). 😊
