Entries tag in snippet working differently from different pages

Hi,

I have an entry tag:

{exp:channel:entries channel="notices" search:active="Yes" search:notice_type="Residential" entry_id="{notices}” search:pages=”Home” dynamic=”no” disable=”categories|category_fields|member_data|pagination|trackbacks”} <li>{title}</li> {/exp:channel:entries}

in a snippet.

When called from a normal template, it works fine. When called from a layout template, the inner “<li>” just prints the page title / id. It seems as if the channel tag is ignored altogether. Any ideas what might cause this? I verified that the parameters going into the query are the same for both areas.
