How to filter search results by category

Can anyone tell me to filter the search results by category when a single article is under multiple categories? Currently I am using V.1.6.8.

Can you please provide more info? Is your issue is not knowing how to filter your search results by categories, or a problem with the results you are getting? Is this public facing search or when filtering in the CP?
If you have an entry belonging to multiple categories, it will be included in the results for any category you filter that it belongs to.
