Problems adding a script within an entry

I am trying to add the following script to a post and even if I set the formatting for the field to none it still switches out all ” for html entities, which presumably is why the script ends up not working.

Is there any way to accomplish this? Or is there some issue with selecting None for the field at the entry stage, does that not override the default properly? The text before it also comes out enclosed in paragraph tags.

Edited to add: even enclosed in code tags, it seems the forum strips out the script tags, but they are of course there.
