EE 2 vs 3 - Where do I start

How Do I?

Hi Peoples,

So I’ve been working with EE for friggen ever. I have a small stable of clients, last EE site I built was last year on 2.whatever, before EE3. Working on new site for client and installed EE 3.5+ on test server today. Design is done, installed latest EE, run install, and WTF.

I click around, but not feeling comfortable at all to start. I search for “EE3 training, EE3 tutorials, EE2 vs EE3, EE3 where is…(fill in …) I find neither Jack nor Shit. I found one youtube where some random dude explains interface and don’t touch the developer button but that’s pretty much it.

So where the F do I start? Is there an EE2 Vs EE3 video or webpage that I’m missing? Most clients don’t want to pay for EE but I sell it as often as possible and bake it into costs. This current site wanted WP but I fought for EE and now Im finding no practical resources to help me move forward with EE.

HELP. Where do I even start with EE3.5+? I just need a “this is there” tutorial. Something with “this is now that” would be great too.

Thanks, John

PS. I have searched google and the forums for all this info and am just straight up frustrated. Is there and actuall link to EE3 training? to the slack channel? to any real EE3 vids?

Hey there IdeaFarm,

I searched and think I saw that you had already joined the eeCMS Slack, if not it’s here EE Slack.

Also, I was gonna recommend Mijingo so went to the site just to confirm and noticed I’m not seeing any EE3 resources from them just yet.

The ExpressionEngine 3 docs are here EE3 Docs.

Additional resources they list are:

  • EE Guide Book
  • Create-EE

  • Train-EE

  • EE-Hub
  • EE3 Docs - Getting the Most our of ExpressionEngine

I know that’s probably a bit thinner than what we’re used to for V2, hope it helps you out. Would love to hear what your experience of migrating to 3 looks like for ya. Good luck! Reuben
