When setting up a grid field we can either choose the plus to set up a fresh field or copy over the previous one’s settings to save time by clicking the document copy icon. Try copying a field with a textarea and it’s settings and you’ll see that EE is assuming a test field.

Update… OK… so EE is offering the copy button before the sub-field has been saved the first time; at the bottom. Maybe that shouldn’t show up as an option until after the first field has been saved.

Thanks, Kurt, we’ll have this fixed in the next release!

I’m not too sure what you mean here. Are you saying you shouldn’t be able to clone columns until you’ve saved a column?

I’m not saying that you shouldn’t be able to, I’m saying that you can’t, because EE will change the field type on you and when it does, you lose your settings. Oh… darn spell-check.

Textarea field gets changed to text field during the cloning. That make more sense? Spellcheck was trying to help me out in the first post.

Ah ok, well we’ve fixed the initial problem of the field type being changed on clone in the first place, so there should be no need to enforce anything like that. Thanks again!

Cool, thanks. I should have more time to play with this current build today or tomorrow and see if I turn up any other loose ends for you.
