Control Panel Getting Hung Up

Development and Programming

Fresh install of 4.2.1 (Build 4/18/2018), everything seems fine, then randomly will get hung up in the control panel for a few minutes. Hung up, meaning that it will load some of the page, then just sit there thinking. Usually if I stop the page and hit refresh, it will load normally. Sometimes it doesn’t and I try again. Note that the front end site is unaffected by this and will load perfectly every time. I only have one third-party plugin, disabled it, no change.

I just updated to 4.3.1 (Build 6/2/2018) and still having the same issue. I enabled debug, and even when it takes a few minutes to load, it shows:

Memory Usage: 17.4MB of 128M | Database Execution Time: 0.0151 | Total Execution Time: 0.1704

The hosting is through GoDaddy (blah) running cPanel. The pre-install EE wizard checked out fine with no issues. My browser is Chrome v66 and my Wifi is 75mb up/down.

What am I missing?

Its actually now happening on the front end as well. But yet debug shows it is loading quickly. Is this a server side issue?

Starting to think its the shared hosting throttling speeds. Any input here? I figured because the wizard checked out that we’d be good with the current setup.

Odd to not have input from the community yet. Nonetheless, we’ve upgraded the hosting to a virtual dedicated server and I’m getting the same issues. Starting to think its a server setting or its an issue in EE. It seems to be getting worse too. Almost like the connection will time out, and my session will expire. Makes me log back in every 5 minutes (which wasn’t happening at first).

At this point I’m at a standstill and could use some help!!!

Hi Matrix! Feel free to put in a support ticket if you need one of our engineers to help you figure out what’s going on. Looks like you found the ExpressionEngine Slack, though and may have gotten an answer re: your hosting there. It seems that Slack is the preferred location for much of the community these days. Ever-changing internet trends!

Thanks Derek. Maybe a silly next question, but I can’t see how to submit a ticket with the “3 months support included on first license” option. Seems to be making me purchase a plan.

Not silly at all! As long as you have a valid license on your account (I do see one), you should see the support plan reflected as $0 in your cart at checkout. If you aren’t seeing that, just email [email protected] and we’ll get your account straightened out!

Was able to touch base with sales, but before troubleshooting anything, the upgraded hosting seems to have finally resolved the issues. I should have known from the start.
