I have recently inherited an EE v2.11.3 site. I have been tasked with getting it current. I would like to approach this in stages since it is a big site with a LOT of extensions, custom theme, etc. My initial thoughts are to first get it to the latest version of EE v2, which seem to be v2.11.9. How/where can I get this download?

Also, are their docs, blogs, or other helpful posts on getting a site upgraded from v2 thru v3 to v4.latest? Thanks in advance!!

Thanks for bubbling this up, Chornenky Creative. I wouldn’t read too much into forum participation from a year ago, most of the community focus was on Slack back then.

The big thing with upgrading from EE 2 is making sure all your add-ons are compatible, and if they aren’t, see if you can do without them or find other solutions. EllisLab can be hired to perform the upgrade for you, if you wish.

EE 2.11.9 can be downloaded via GitHub:

https://github.com/ExpressionEngine/ExpressionEngine/releases/tag/2.10.1

And here is the relevant documentation:

https://docs.expressionengine.com/v3/installation/upgrade_from_2.x.html

https://docs.expressionengine.com/v4/installation/upgrade_from_3.x.html

And once you’re on EE4, you can just use the one-click updater to update. Or, you can actually go from EE3 to EE5 relatively safely and skip EE4.
