Rich Text Editor in Channel Form v 3.5.14

Admittedly, I’m no developer–and I’m working in v 3–but this is wacky stuff.

I managed to get Channel Form working in a template at https://www.4sonline.org/profession_submission. (Still a work in progress.)

The Description field carries Rich Text Editor controls, and they appear to work in the form, but the formatted text does not transfer to the CP or to the outputted entry. In the CP, edits I make using the RTE controls do publish. What have I missed?

Best of all, in the CP, typed text entered in the Description field enters right-to-left in spite of being set correctly in the field settings. Is this backwards day?
