I organize fields in fieldgroups, matching the channel they are used by. e.g., channel News uses fieldgroup News. Sometimes I add some fields, thinking I’m in the “News” fieldgroup, when it puts it into the general field repository. It would be nice if you could select field(s) (checkbox on the right) then the dropdown box under the fields could have a “Move to fieldgroup…” option.

In EE5 at least you can do that (assign a field to a field group)… but perhaps in earlier versions of EE you cannot?

I’m actually using EE5, but my problem is that I add a field to the default non-grouping. After making it, I realize my mistake, and want to move it inside a field group, and cannot. I expect that if I check the box beside the field and look to the dropdown box at the bottom of the page (the one with “Remove”, etc.), I’ll have a “Move to…” option, but I don’t.

Ah! Yes, I can see why that would make sense and would be a nice addition. For now, if you want to assign a field to a group ‘after the fact’, just go in and edit the group- you’ll see all of the fields in a select box, with the ones in that group selected. Just add the field you want in there and you’re good to go.

Great! Thanks for the info. I was thinking of it the other way around.
