Freeform replacement in EE5

Looking for a Freeform replacement for EE5 - as I understand it Freeform (my usual go-to) is now a commercial add-on so looking for a replacement/equivalent solution. Does not need tons of complex functionality - just basic fields and an anti-Spam Captcha capability.
What is the - free - add-on of choice here?
Freeform has always been a commercial add-on. You didn’t say what you are trying to do, but the front in form options in ExpressionEngine are actually very good. I’m not certain if there are other free form add-ons.
Pretty sure there was up till recently a free version.
I want to send a form basically. Simply and with some form of spam prevention.
The only free one I know of is the native contact form. You can use it for things other than a contact form, and you van make the message field an array, which means ‘unlimited’ custom fields.
I do use it for simple forms- I’ll stick hidden message fields in there so I have labels in the resulting emails and such.
I wouldn’t use it for a really complicated form and it’s only sending email, no saving to the database. But if you want to get more complex, then I’d go with Freeform.
