Email Contact form using the EE Email add-on never arrives

How Do I?

I’m using EE 5.2.6 and have the Email 2.1.0 add-on installed and enabled. I created the form with the required form elements as outlined in the docs.

Everything seems great. I fill out the fields and submit the form. I get a success response as expected.

But the email never arrives at the address defined in the hidden input named ‘to’. I’ve also tried the recipients attribute as well and same thing.

Based on the docs I think I’ve done all the steps. Has anyone run into this? Is there further settings configuration I need to make?

Thank you!!

Are any emails getting through- say sign up notifications and such? We want to know if mail in general works first.

If I’m debugging email that never arrives, I always debug using ‘Communicate’ first (Tools- Communicate). It just reduces the things that can go wrong.

If that says it sent successfully, it means it handed it off to the server. If it’s not getting to you, it’s happening between the server and the email account.

So- check your spam filter. I usually test sending to a gmail address, it’s super easy to see what’s in spam.

If it’s not there, maybe your server didn’t send it out. Check the host docs- is the email protocol you’re using supported? Do they have a limit on the number of emails being sent?

We can definitely play with some settings (https://docs.expressionengine.com/latest/control-panel/settings/email.html#settings), but first see if you can send via Communicate and triple check it’s not going to spam.
