I recently installed the Forum module, but now I discover (shortly before launch!) that the ‘permissions’ function does not work.
I have 2 membergroups A and B, and two Forums F1 and F2.
Group A must see and post in forum F1 and F2 Group B can only see and post in F2.
This does not work.
Obviously the normal if and ifelse conditionals and logged_in_member_group do not work in the Forum module.
How can I find a solution? Is there a fix possible? Can I hack the Forum Code and hard code these groups? It is really urgent.
Thanks a lot!
I attach a screenshot, I presumed this would work, it is really a bummer.
It should work- did you set the member group permissions for each forum as per the docs?
For each individual forum, you can set whether a member group can view it and whether they can post to it.
I know you can’t upload images yet, but are you sure those are set for each of your forums? And right now, can just everyone view the forums, no matter whether they’re logged in or what member group they’re logged into?
Hi, thank you for replying. Yes, I did set permissions for each forum. Forum should be hidden for visitors not logged in, that works.
I tried to upload screenshot of my settings here but that failed. (I can not upload images here. In my own forum it works)
I found a workaround for the permissions by running my forum in EE templates and use conditionals for the membergroups. It’s a relatively small forum with 90 members and 2 membergroups so I hope not too much server overload. But this is not ideal.
