File upload field reports error when using drag and drop

EE 5.3.2.
If I try to upload a file using drag and drop, the field reports an error: > Unexpected error. Check your post_max_size setting in your PHP configuration.
If I use the ‘Upload New’ button, the file uploads fine.
My post_max_size is set to 8MB, and the file I’m uploading is 5MB.
I tried to report a bug, but I get a 404 page..

I’ve not seen that error before, even when post_max_size is smaller than the file.
