Why would links not be working in a Text Area field?

I have some html in a text area field and the links don’t work. When I inspect the rendered page in dev tools, everything looks normal. Any ideas? I have text-formatting set to “none”

nevermind. something on my end. removing an ID from a wrapping section tag fixed the problem. must be some old javascript scope creep going on. thanks!
