Hello everyone, I was just filling the cliet’s website with entries while I’ve got this:

Exception Caught

SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 1835 Malformed communication packet:
SELECT LOWER(module_name) AS module_name, module_version, has_cp_backend, module_id FROM (`exp_modules`)

mysqli_connection.php:122

This is EE 3.5.x Can anyone advise, please? I’m in not good situation with my client as this took everything down

It looks like a database bug is the most likely culprit- see here, for example.

The linked discussion fixed it by updating php to 7.3, which I think will be ok on v3, but I am not absolutely certain. 7.4 would definitely not be ok unless the site is on the latest.

But short answer- reach out to your host and you might link them to that discussion. They should be able to come up with a solution as I’m sure you’re not the only one running into an issue with it.

Hi Robin, I can confirm it’s a problem with the version of the PHP. I switched to 7.4 and it worked. Then I turned it to 7.3. The other of my websites though (some of them build on EE1.x) are down. I think you for this and I would chek with the host support, but this fixed my issue on the target site.

Yes, 1x is not going to work on php 7. Might talk to the host- if they can roll back that database update I think it will keep working.

1x!!!!! LOL, get them to upgrade.
