Display Post Count Since Last Visit

Howdy, all! So, wayyyyy back in the day, there was a nifty plugin that I used called “Since Last Visit”, which hasn’t been updated in quite a long time.

I’m finding that I would like to add a blurb to the main page of my website, once a user has logged in, that displays the number of entries since their last visit. It’s a trivial thing, but something I’d like to do nonetheless.

With the loss of that plugin, is there a native way to display this information without using a plugin? If not, is there a current plugin that would accomplish this? (NOT a “display recent entries” thing; I’ve already got that in place.)
