Search form to search downloads

Is there a way to search the downloads folder and return links to what is there? I am a newbie so any information will be very helpful.

Sure, click on the pencil Icon next to the file and then click on the little link Icon to display the full URL to the file.

What I mean is, I want to have a search function on the front end so users can search for assets (PDF’s) that I have in a file folder.
You can do it via custom add-on.
@ZealousWeb can you be a little more specific? What custom addon will search the download folder?
