Does EE 2.11.9 and 6.x work with MySQL 8.x?

Will both EE 2.11.9 and 6.x work with MySQL 8.x?
We’re working on an upgrade path and I’d like to know what to expect. I see that the requirements for both state MySQL 5.x “or newer” but don’t want to assume it means anything past v5.

EE 2 though is a different story. I’m just not sure on that one.
