Sorry to bring this topic back-up, but I’ve got a question. I’ve been trying every possible plugin available and dyno_cat is the closest to what I need:

Here’s a simplified version of my structure:

Category 1 Category 2 Subcategory 2.1 Level 2.1.1 Level 2.1.2 Level 2.1.x Subcategory 2.2 Level 2.2.1 Level 2.2.2 Level 2.2.x Subcategory 2.3 Level 2.3.1 Level 2.3.2 Level 2.3.x Category 3

Category 4

Each top-category will go at least 3 levels deep. As you can imagine this causes quite some complicated menu’s and I would like to make them a bit more easy for our users.

Is there any way to show only the sister-categories AND the daughter-categories for the current active category? At this point, dyno_cat comes close but also shows the ‘grand-daughter’-categories. So If you click on “Category 2” you still get a huge list of categories.

I wished it would be:

Category 1 Category 2 Subcategory 2.1 Subcategory 2.2 Subcategory 2.3 Category 3

Category 4

Is there any way to adjust the dyno_cat plugin to show what I want?

Perhaps you could try to play around with this.

See an example menu here.

It only works 3 levels deep, though. Should you nest deeper only the top-parents and the deepest two childs will be shown. You’ll see what I mean if you try it.

Cool! I’m gonna try it out early next week. Thanks a lot!!

Has anyone here tried Dyno Cat plug-in with EE 1.6. I’ve just upgraded a site to 1.6 which uses the dynocat plug-in extensively to discover that the behavior of the ‘Category URL Title’ field in the category manager prevents the dynocat plug-in from working as expected when I add new categories. This can be solved by manually amending the URL title values in the DB but it’s not ideal…
