Hi Robin,

Could this rating module be adapted to work like digg.com? I’d like to allow my readers to “digg” an article and then have the most digged articles appear on my homepage. Or is there another module that would be more appropriate for my objective? ee poll perhaps?

Thanks

What a handy module!

Ave: 3.9117647058824

FR: it would be good if we could have the rounded average instead. n.nn

Also are there any other sites running this module so we can see more live examples?

Hi Rob,

I’m currently looking at using your EZ Rate extension for adding Amazon-like star ratings to registered users comments. The extension looks pretty straightforward, but what would be the variable to pull out the user’s rating (as a digit), so I can then replace them with the stars?

Is this possible with that extension?

Cheers, Mark

Coming from another thread, but did everyone know that the tags link on the Wiki is dead?

Not Found The requested URL /downloads/article/ez_rate/ was not found on this server. Apache/2.0.52 (Red Hat) Server at media-cow.com Port 80 Going to the root web yields:

Coming Soon! Powered by pMachineHosting.com Hosting Clients: To remove this “Coming Soon” page, FTP into your account and delete index.html.

(I’ve marked the site as being currently offline in the wiki)

Some of the pMachineHosting sites are being moved this weekend. I only know this because one of the women I read mentioned it in her blog. 😊

Ah - that explains alot. Thanks greatly - most of the site is there but graphics break on some areas (the License page) and I can’t find a way to register to download the extension at all.

I’ll give it a day or two and see what happens. Thanks again.

Hey, this looks good. I am trying Solspace rating mod, but an issue is that anyone can rate something as much as they like, click away 100 times or more. Does this allow people to rate an entry only once, like the voting? I’m just too frustrated to install and try it to learn, so maybe someone can tell me, then I’ll know to jump in when it’s ready!

Thanks! Great job Robin!

This looks great, based on what I’ve read - but I can’t download it as the link is still broken. Any ideas when it’ll be available - I’m itching to give it a try on a new project!

Cheers

Andy

Link should work now- I was actually in the midst of a move to pmh, and then I forgot to change my paths, so downloads were broken for another week.

I honestly don’t remember what this module does- it’s really simple. Plays off of the comment form, if I recall correctly. I need to go through it and polish it up, as I get enough hits on it to warrant it.

There’s another ajax version which also needs polishing and releasing- but I think the simple one is actually better.

Anyhoo- a cleaner, revised version of this on is on the ‘to do’ list- about the 4th thing down on the list. But whatever is up now works as advertised.

First of all: Thanks for this nice module, exactly what I was looking for!

I have a question, though - where does the wording come from? I need to translate it to german and couldn’t find the phrases anywhere in the files.

Do you look for the strings in lang.ez_rate.php?

[s]That’s the first place I looked - but it contains only the text used in the backend.[/s]

Please disregard. I was just being stupid.

I have to give a quote for integrating a rating system into a site I just recently finished. Well, now it might be time for me to dust off the ol’ Star Rating Script, update it with many of the numerous suggestions for security, etc, found on that page, and adapt it for EE. Time to eat my own dogfood, in other words. Dang thing has had enough downloads, but I’ve never actually used it on a site, myself!
