should be better now. that’s rather annoying. I’m using Safari on a mac and the post takes forever to publish, but once it goes through it shows me the correct file size, then when I check back the file size is 0? Strange.

I’ve updated the extension again to support multiple files. Enable it in the extension manager by clicking on settings. If you have multiple files enabled you can use the following template structure:

{multi_[field_name]}
{[field_name]}
{/multi_[field_name]}

Where [field_name] is the short name of your field. For example I have a field named article_image so my structure would look like this:

{multi_article_image}
{multi_article_image}
{/multi_article_image}

If you don’t have multiple files turned on then you can just use the single variable like so {article_image}.

If you’re using this extension in combination with any of my other extensions it is highly recommended that you update all of them or field data may not enter correctly. You can find links to the individual posts below:

There’s a bug. This File ext. doesn’t allow creating new custom fields (I created a new Group).

I get

MySQL ERROR: Error Number: 1054 Description: Unknown column ‘field_download_directory’ in ‘field list’ Query: INSERT INTO `exp_weblog_fields` (`group_id`, `field_id`, `field_name`, `field_label`, `field_instructions`, `field_type`, `field_pre_populate`, `field_related_to`, `field_maxl`, `field_ta_rows`, `field_list_items`, `field_download_directory`, `field_related_orderby`, `field_related_sort`, `field_related_max`, `field_fmt`, `field_show_fmt`, `field_text_direction`, `field_required`, `field_search`, `field_is_hidden`, `field_order`, `field_related_id`) VALUES (‘5’, ”, ‘stbody’, ‘stbody’, ”, ‘text’, ‘n’, ‘blog’, ‘128’, ‘6’, ”, ”, ‘title’, ‘desc’, ‘0’, ‘xhtml’, ‘y’, ‘ltr’, ‘n’, ‘n’, ‘n’, ‘29’, ‘4’)

If I disable the File ext., I can create custom fields.

Thanks!

Pmachine should pay you. File uploading and file management in EE is atrocious, and this represents a huge leap forward, IMO. Thank you for this and all the other extensions you’ve pumped out recently.

sigork, I can’t seem to recreate that error, however I do remember a similar error in a previous version of the extension. Please make sure you’ve downloaded the latest version from the first post in this thread.

sigork, here’s another version which fixes a bug in IE and hopefully your MySQL bug. Download it in the first post of this thread.

The extension was updated again to remove a PHP warning that popped up. Grab it at the top of this thread.

mark, this is a question related to alot of your recent extensions added new custom field types. what are the chances of them working with the standalone entry form?

Honestly smallbeer, I’m not too sure. I’ve never investigated. I will look into it though and see what is required for it to happen.

This is a problem with the way EE was written, to read more go here: http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/38843/#181791. Also find my one line hack in the response following the linked post.

Extension error: narrowed it down to ‘File’ custom fields. Any ideas? Using v.1.0.8, downloaded today (30 October) from the top of this thread.

MySQL ERROR:

Error Number: 1054

Description: Unknown column ‘field_id_36_img’ in ‘field list’

Query: UPDATE exp_weblog_data SET weblog_id = ‘2’, field_id_33 = ‘Adrienne Travis’, field_ft_33 = ‘none’, field_id_31 = ‘A gorgeous, heavy duty portfolio/document case collaged and embellished with reproduction vintage maps, labels, documents, and various ephemera. Each one unique.’, field_ft_31 = ‘xhtml’, field_id_21 = ‘This is a portfolio/document case made from Davey board (ultra-heavy chipboard) and Gorilla Tape. The structure is my own design, and i've been carrying mine around for months now. It's super sturdy. The whole thing, inside and out, is covered in gorgeous repro maps and other vintage images, with some small and surprising embellishments. (Then it's varnished within an inch of its life, to keep the surface from being damaged!) You can't see it here, but there's a sturdy cloth or leather handle on each one, making it easier to carry around if it's full.\n\nEach one of these is handmade by me, and each collage is totally unique.\n\nPortfolio measures (roughly) 14"×10"×2". As you can see in the photo, it's big enough to fit several regular-size manila folders full of paper (and I also carry my wonderful Staedtler Triplus pen set). There's also a 2"×2"×8" removable pencil-cup that slots right inside on either side, so you can carry around your essential writing and sketching tools without them getting lost in the bottom! ‘, field_ft_21 = ‘markypants’, field_id_22 = ‘60.00’, field_ft_22 = ‘none’, field_id_19 = ’ ‘, field_ft_19 = ‘none’, field_id_36 = ”, field_id_36_img = ‘Array’, field_id_36_img_0 = ” WHERE entry_id = ‘265’

Are you using Quick Save or Update? Are you sure the extension is enabled? Try disabling it and enabling it again.

I was using Update … but, it’s not the fault of YOUR extension at all. It seems that the ‘Publish Page Improvements’ extension was interacting badly with it. Given that i’d rather have yours, it’s a no-brainer which to kill. 😊
