I just downloaded latest Tome module from Tome Module and installed on latest 1.6.3 EE. It doesn’t seem to work at all.

  1. It always use the system-wise default page template, regardless of what I set in the tome module. I have to get around that by setting it in the template menu to make it as the site’s default index page.
  2. None of the static tags are being recognized.
  3. A tome page’s URL is so strange as it is made up from its category’s description field, not from the category’s URL field. For example, I see like the link as …/index.php/This is my home page. Notice space is not converted to underscore char too.

Nothing seems to work at all. Totally broken… Any insight what went wrong?

Answer to my own questions: 1. While I swear I did enable the extension but it wasn’t when I checked it again, enable it and solve most of the problems. 2. The weird URL is fixed if I leave the category’s description field empty. It seems when it is empty, it uses the URL field to build the proper link.

So all problems are solved.

I just want to re-instate my point #2 in my previous email. I think it is a bug. Does anyone aware the the category’s description field has to be left empty in order for Tome module to work? It seems to grab the field to form the URL if it is not empty. As least that’s what I see. Funny I don’t see anyone mentions it…

Hi Dan….whilst I agree that it is not the best function in the world (I got caught with this issue originally as well!!), it is mentioned in the Forums….

Thanks. I don’t understand the original problem, probably category url name doesn’t exist in EE at that time? In any case, It will be nice to see Mark fixing it to avoid confusion. And I also would like to utilize that field to fill the meta tag description.

I’ve been successfully using the Tome module for quite a while on three different sites,

However, recently, as the sites have been growing, slow loading has become a serious issue. After switching on SQL Query logging I can see that an average Tome page request is using nearly 800 queries! Most of these are coming up like this in the log, and repeating many many times for each page.

671 - SHOW TABLES LIKE 'exp_tome'
672 - SELECT cat_id FROM exp_category_posts WHERE entry_id=41

Has anyone else experienced these problems or am I doing something unusual??

James
