Hi, Looking to create a static pages section - is the EE Pages Module the same as Mark Huot’s pages module?

Which is better/ more flexible?

No, it’s not the same. Use whatever you want, Tome (as it’s been renamed) remains more powerful for the time being, Pages is better integrated + officially supported. Your call.

With the EE page module can you do 2 levels of navigation?

Can you do sidebar links that match the static sections structure?

Why don’t you just try it? I’ve never had the need for a “static pages” module of any kind, sorry. As far as I can tell the “new and official” module will simply allow you to assign arbitrary urls to weblog entries.

@stevo_s - yes, the 1st party pages can do as many depths as you need, you actually get to define the URL for each entry. i would recommend going that route.

Because you can arbitrarily assign URI’s in the new Pages module, you can make Pages as ‘nested’ as you want. I don’t think there is an automated way to kick out navigation based on your EE Pages structure, though. Yet.

I’d love to hear some of your thoughts on the features that are missing. I documented two that I’ve already run into issues with.

I’m hoping we can start generating work-arounds or new plugins/extensions to make up for them and help everyone out moving over to the built in version.
