For some reason I can’t figure out, this plugin stopped working on two of my sites after the 1.6 upgrade, but not a third. It’s so weird. I just can’t figure it out. The only pertinent info I can thnk of is that the two sites which broke were still at 1.4 while the third site which works was at the latest 1.52 build before the upgrade to 1.6

If anyone would like to peek inside and see if they can figure out the common denominator in the two that broke, please let me know, I’ll set up admin access and so forth. TIA!

First make sure that both of those sites are using the most current copy of the plugin. The javascript had a necessary change around 1.5.0 if I recall, in how it referenced the form elements.

First off, thanks for troubleshooting this…that was certainly a great thought, as I discovered that the plugins were 1.2, not 1.2.1. Unfortunately they still don’t work and I’m at a loss.

When they still failed, I went to the site where they do work. I took that copy of pi.comment_buttons.php and uploaded it. I then took the exact same comment code from the working site and pasted it into the template of the non-working site, and it still failed. This leads me to think there might be something in the code of the non-working sites, something in the head area, something in the templates, that is preventing the javascript from seeing the comment area textbox?

Here’s an even weirder one: I took the entire comment template from the working site and made it a test template on a non-working site - and the buttons still failed.

Could it be something in a setting? The database?

Can you post or send me a link to the failing page? And are you using any extensions on these sites?

I’ll email you data to get to all of them. Before I do, here’s another weird one:

I just figured I’d try a totally new, clean template. I downloaded tinyred, created the group and made templates with that code. I added the buttons in and they still failed.

I’m so confused! 😊
