On Veerle Pieters’ gorgeous website ? I’d like to do something similar 😊

You know, she responds to comments quite readily and seems pretty darn friendly - did you consider asking her directly? =)

And when you find out, report back and let the rest of us know ;-)

Why would you need a plugin for this? Why not just have a couple of custom fields in a weblog - URL and Image - with the details taken straight from your Amazon store page. A couple of right-clicks and you’re done.

I think it’s a more dynamic block of data that is being collected and displayed (I’d like mine to show me a random set of books and CD’s and movies, for example)…

I’ll ask her and report back here 😉

richardC…If one is using an Amazon plugin or their APIs you can gather a lot more data/info automatically…Price, images, reviews, recommendations, etc. All you need is the product number.

You can, and there’s a plugin to do all that in the downloads section. But to do what she’s got there - a simple list and a few links - wouldn’t need a special one. Plus, there doesn’t seem to be a direct correlation between the order of the books as they appear on her site and how they appear on her storefront, suggesting that they’re two different data sources.

(She’s also using Amazon for her iTMS list.)

Yes, there are a couple in downloads but both have problems…one is outdated and unsupported and the other requires your host to be running PHP-5 which most aren’t. So, it’s always of interest how others are handling Amazon data for their book lists and what others are using.

OK, I asked her and she replied that she created the info manually… So it’s not as dynamic as I assumed it was. Oh well, we’ll have to dig into the EE plugins then.
