DynoCat broken in 1.6 if you use category titles in URLs

I’ve already posted this in the original DynoCat thread so apologies but I’m keen to find a long term solution so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Has anyone here tried Dyno Cat plug-in with EE 1.6. I’ve just upgraded a site to 1.6 which uses the dynocat plug-in extensively to discover that the behavior of the ‘Category URL Title’ field in the category manager prevents the dynocat plug-in from working as expected when I add new categories. This can be solved by manually amending the URL title values in the DB but it’s not ideal…

I’d like a fix for this as well!

Ok, I think all is required to fix the plug-in is to have the code modified to use the ‘cat_url_title’ column for the URL that it generates rather than the category name… that also get’s me thinking that if you switched from using category names in the URL to category IDs that it might spring back into life… I’m gonna give that a shot now.

Yes, reverting back to category id’s in the URL fixes the problem, no ideal, but it’s a solution until the plug-in is patched I guess. 😊

I’d love a fix as well. I just spent ages trying to figure out why (category_url_title} wasn’t working before figuring it might be DynoCat.

I didn’t see your message up on the Media Cow site when I look earlier… when I tried to submit a comment, it failed for me because I hadn’t given an answer to a (non-showing/non-existent) Captcha field. Hopefully this Rob has heard about the problem.

Please fix. Is Dynocat dead? Are there options?

ok, I have engineered a fixed version of the Dynocat plug-in… ‘but’ obviously I can’t release it here unless I have an OK from Robin. Ideally I could pass it on for her to check and the release herself… Robin??? You here???

😊

Nathan, I built in (category_url_title} back in March and Robin kindy rolled my changes into her plugin. There is an updated changelog on the Dynocat plugin page

Doh! Shoulda checked the plug-in page before I went and spent an hour fiddling…! You know it’s kinda comforting looking through the code and seeing that we both did the ‘exact’ same thing! 😊
