Searching the data stored in a modules database table

Hi All

We are in the process of building a document repository module which should work in a similar fashion as the image gallery, only for documents instead of images. All the information about a particular document will be saved into a separate database table which will be setup by the module. What we would like to find out is the following:

Is it possible to have the data that is stored in our module table included as one of the places that is searched by the EE search function (i.e. can you search module data via the EE search module)?
