Content not getting updated using TinyMCE

I’m using TinyMCE as a WYSIWYG and if I make any changes to a page in the visual view and click update, the changes don’t get saved. But, if I make the same changes in TinyMCE’s HTML view and click update the changes do get saved.

Anyone know what the problem could be?

The form is going to update whatever is in the field. It sounds to me like TinyMCE isn’t writing changes to the field when in WYSIWYG mode. Have you tried a different browser? I’ve found many TinyMCE issues are browser specific.

Jamie, thanks for the reply!

It appears to work in IE7 and IE6 but not in FF. This is totally bizarre!! I have 5 or 6 other EE installs all running the same version and all using TinyMCE and they all work without any problems in FF.

Any idea why this would be?

Is it a different version of TinyMCE? Could be a bug that was fixed. Or one that was introduced. What is different about this instance compared to the others. Javascript can be finicky regarding a lot of things. Is there any other javascript running on the page that the other sites don’t use?

I uploaded the latest version of TinyMCE and that didn’t seem to solve the problem. So, I then un-installed the extension completely and re-installed it. Now I can’t even get TinyMCE to display for the body field of the form, just the summary field. And of course, this is only happening in FF.

I’m thinking about just cutting my losses at this point and telling the client to use IE to update their content. Any other ideas?

practis,

I’m running out of ideas. This is exactly the reason that TinyMCE is not officially suported by EE. It, and pretty much every other javascript WYSIWIG editor, are just a bit too finicky and difficult to support due the browser issues and different implementations and levels of support that each browser has for javascript.

My last suggestion would be to try a different computer with a clean copy of FF (if possible).

Yeah, thats the next step I thought of as well… but unfortunately I don’t have the time. Not sure what the issue is but I guess the client will just have to make their updates using IE.

Thanks for the advice!
