With the release of my first plugin fast approaching (Probably this evening) I have the bug now to write addons for Expression Engine.
Let’s say you have your default comment expiration set to 30 days. Now, as the post nears the expiration of the comments, let’s say you get a sudden surge in commenting. Now, you could theoretically go in and change the comment expiration for that post, but what if you are away and can’t get to it?
Well, that’s what this extension is here for. You tell it a number of days before a comment expires, and what it will do is change the date of expiration to a user selectable period of time if a comment comes in during that time frame you set. This will happen repeatedly, so you don’t have to think about changing expiration.
If you have any suggestions for settings that you would like to see on this, let me know.
Sounds like a cool EXT, Brian. A small suggestion, add what Victor is talking about to the same EXT.
Basically you’d have it auto-set the comment expiration to entry_date + 30 days when an entry is submitted, PLUS you’d have it auto-set the comment expiration to NOW() + 30 days on each comment.
Setting it up per weblog and Site would be good too.
Just my two cents.
Good luck!
